The ultimate goal of wound management is obtaining a uniform granulation tissue with abundant blood vessels that bring blood and participate in the delicate balance of oxygen concentrations to facilitate the tissue repair or regeneration. In this sense Bio-Film is Pro-Angiogenic and return the life of the ulcerated necrotic tissue with autolytic debridement by their mechanisms of action:

Keratolytic: which promotes the desquamation of damaged epithelium by autolysis and establishes uniformity of the granulation tissue.

Keratoplastic: it promotes the precipitation of proteins and ensuring control of the wound proteases produced by bacteria, which prevent healing.

Two regulatory mechanisms occur with the use of Bio Film: In acute wounds the laminar structure isolates the wound bed and allows exudate to remain at this site, and maintaining a high level of moisture in the wound-membrane interface, which promotes cell migration and epithelialization in an expedited manner.

In chronic wounds, for its keratoplastic action, exudates are removed which prevents negative biochemical actions of inflammation that inhibit cell proliferation which itself produces degradation of the extracellular matrix.

The antimicrobial effects of BioFilm are obtained by three different mechanisms:

Low pH: It has a low pH which prevents bacterial growth and most aerobic and anaerobic because bacteria grow best in alkaline medium (pH 6 to 8) and even the most tolerant bacteria grow at pH 4.0, which is far from the range of pH provided by BioFilm.

Osmotic lysis (Cytolysis): high osmolality of honey by high concentration of sugars, kills bacteria by causing dehydration and inhibition of reproduction derived from diffusion of water molecules to the outside of the cell structure of the bacteria.

Endogenous enzymes of Honey: glucose oxidase enzyme produces slow release of hydrogen peroxide with antibacterial effects.

General Indications

  • Partial thickness burns (second degree superficial and deep) and scald.
  • Decubitus ulcers, arterial-venous origin, or pressure.
  • Surgical and post traumatic injury with tissue loss.
  • Surfaces with cavitations, necrotic entero-cutaneous fistulas
  • Areas of tissue loss of any nature (scalping, abrasions).
  • Preparation of receptor sites and donor sites of skin grafts.

Precautions and Warnings

  • EIn people with sensitive skin, mild burning occurs at the site of placement, due to its low pH and no reason to remove it. If necessary supply an oral analgesic.
  • Keep the product out of the reach of children.
  • Store Bio-Film in a cool place.
